Performances: 9 improv troupes putting on shows in locations across the town, including Mad Monkey Improv (5* Broadway Baby review) at the Exchange Studio, Dingbats at Harmony Maidstone, and County Town Improv at Maidstone Museum.
Workshops: Free workshops for kids at Maidstone Museum, and for adults at Lockmeadow, Maidstone Community Support Centre, and the Exchange Studio.
The Maidstone Improv Festival is being organised by Christopher Riley. Christopher runs County Town Improv, Maidstone's only comedy class and regular improv comedy show. He trained with Seamus Allen at What's The Game?, and Alexander McWilliam at Mad Monkey Improv in Reading, before starting County Town Improv in 2023 following a move back to Kent.
Christopher is being supported by the County Town Improv team, who will be performing in several shows across the week, as well as facilitating workshops and being just general all-round brilliant people.

Maidstone, 14th May 2024 — The inaugural Maidstone Improv Festival, a celebration of improvisational theatre, is scheduled to take place from 14th to 22nd September at various iconic locations around Maidstone, including the Exchange Studio, Maidstone Museum, and others. This dynamic festival will feature performances from some of the most talented improv troupes from the South East, including Mad Monkey Improv, County Town Improv, and Dingabts.
"Improv theatre is not just about making people laugh, it's about connection, spontaneity, and storytelling," said Christopher Riley, the festival director. "We're beyond excited to bring this one-of-a-kind live entertainment to Maidstone, featuring amazing talents that will have you laughing non-stop and marveling at the creativity on display."
The Maidstone Improv Festival aims to make a significant cultural impact on the community, bringing together performers and audiences of all ages. In addition to a variety of improv shows, the festival will also offer workshops led by seasoned professionals designed for both beginners and experienced performers. These workshops will cover topics such as theatre games, improv for anxiety, and more.

"We believe that improv is a tool not just for entertainment, but for fostering understanding and creativity within communities," added Hannah Simpson, of the Kent Art Collective, a fine art and life drawing class who include improv comedy in their workshops.

Application Process
To apply for a press pass, please email hello@maidstoneimprovfestival.com. Include the following information:
A valid ID
Proof of media affiliation (for journalists)
A portfolio of live event photography (for photographers)
Application Deadline
Applications must be submitted by 30th August 2024. Late applications will not be considered.
Approval Process
Applicants will be notified of their application status by 7th September 2024. Approval is based on relevance, reach, and alignment with the festival's goals.
